Amelia's Trattoria, located
at 111 Harvard St. on the corner of Portland Street,
just off Broadway in Kendall Square, specializes in
reasonably-priced, freshly-made Italian dishes native
to the region of Abruzzo. Owners Amelia and Delio (Sr.)
Susi were raised in Italy and helped in the preparation
of tradition family style meals in their parents' kitchens,
gardens and vineyards. Even today, Amelia follows the
family recipe, lovingly making Gnocchi, a potato pasta,
nearly every day; it's a real crowd pleaser. She also
loves reminiscing about her youth- how she went to the
local town oven and baked off fresh loafs of bread and
pizzetta's (Which she still makes them in her fine establishment).
Amelia's Signature Foccacia and pizza are prepared by
Delio (Sr.).
Such
memories, of tradition and appreciation of their Italian
culinary heritage, continue with the Susi's first child,
Delio Susi (Jr.).Amelia's Trattoria, Chef Deli Jr. has
added creative touches to reinterpret traditional dishes
his unique style as "classic rustic with fair...
if it wasn't for my mother's and grandmother's inspirational
style, I wouldn't have become a cook. They gave me the
passion to do it." Chef Delio Jr. who recently
studied at the renowned la scuola di cucina del Pettirosso
in Spoltere, Abruzzo, under Chef Angelo Chiavaroli.

Trattoria, is open for lunch and dinner every day, except
Sunday. Lunch (under$10.)

and European style open windows are a few of the "natural"
elements found at the 40 seat Amelia's Trattoria. With
